4P Festival
The 4P Festival is our signature event that celebrates our region’s history and development. Power, Pickerel, Peas, and Paper make up the 4P’s.
- Power – from the Pine Falls Generating Station;
- Pickerel – we are the Walleye Capital of Manitoba;
- Peas – St. Georges is famous for their Peas;
- Paper – the Mill was the entity that created the Town and employed many in the area and although gone, remains alive in our history.
The 4P Festival takes place during the September Labour Day long weekend, providing not only a great opportunity to draw tourists into our community, but also to bring families together and past residents making this weekend their "come back home" trip.
There are a variety of events during the 4P Festival. During the weekend there are no less than 20 events taking place in the region and we can promise, there will be at least another handful to follow, offering something for everyone to enjoy!
For the duration of the 4P Festival, there is a slo-pitch baseball tournament held; all the restaurants have 4P specials (that mostly include delicious pea soup) and meat draws; a beer garden bustles at the Access Arena; there is a gospel tent for praising and singing. The Winnipeg River Heritage Museum is giving tours and hosting a living 1800’s village produced by the Manitoba Living History Society. A Chain Saw Carving Competition, draws in local, regional and even international talent to carve on the spot and auction off their works of art!!
Individual events take place each starting on Friday and ending Monday. They include but are not limited to the following:
- Lego Sculpture Contest with Allard Library
- Meat Draw and Corn Boil at the local Legion Branch #64
- Jig and Jam at the Arena
- Pancake Breakfast at the Church hosted by the Knights of Columbus
- Car Show at Powerview Auto with a lunchtime BBQ
- Golden Leisure Club Sale
- Market Square at Access Arena for Saturday and Sunday
- Kids Zone at the Village Green with bouncers and petting zoo
- 4P Golf Tournament at the Golf Course

- 4P Parade winding the streets of Town on Sunday starting at noon

- The Labour Day Classic between the Bombers and Roughriders is viewed on the HUGE screen at the Arena beer gardens
- Family Fishing Derby on Monday ends the Festival with a day on the water with family and friends - a prize for everyone!
As with any Community event, our 4P Festival relies on its volunteers and the participants to make it happen, as well as sponsorship and donations to help with the operating expenses of the 4P Festival. With over 100 volunteers and at least 5000 participants, it is a wonderful weekend where local business’, hotels, RV Parks and restaurants reap the reward of the Festival and visitors get to experience the quaint charm and beauty of being along the Winnipeg River; many returning to fish in our Autumn fishing tournaments and more coming back to enjoy our pretty RV and ski trails.

Some of our key supporters for the 4P Festival are the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls, Manitoba Hydro, MB Liquor and Lotteries, MB Community Festivals and Events, as well as many local businesses that give generously each and every year!
